Vanishing bottomland forest habitat has taken a toll on the nesting areas of wood ducks. This ecological tragedy has forced the use of artificial nesting structures to replace natural tree cavities.
Since 1970, MWHI has fabricated over 3,300 wood duck nest boxes. Corporations as well as private, state and federal organizations have purchased these boxes in an effort to support, protect, and restore the waterfowl population.
